Fernando Escoto was born in Mexico City in 1968. He started attending dramatic arts at an early age. At the age of sixteen he moved to New York City and began to attend ballet classes for the first time. In 1992, Fernando moved to Toronto and began his training in the circus arts at the Main Space for the Circus Arts. He also began rock climbing at the Toronto Climbing Academy and got involved in the climbing community for a few years. In 1999, Fernando then moved to Montreal and continued his circus training at Trapezium and Club Med World Montreal. At this time he continued to train in ballet. In 2001, he returned to Toronto and got himself in rolled in the Toronto School of Circus Arts. He also joined the Adult Ballet Program at the National Ballet School as well as the Magic World of Circus in Markham. After leaving the NBS, he continued his ballet training at Dance Teq in 2003. Now, Fernando collaborates with the National Ballet of Canada in various productions as well as performs as a super in them. Presently, Fernando volunteers in collaborating with FFIDA. He has also created the Toronto Aerial Dance Theatre of which he is the artistic director.
